I agree with Katie8 But try and tell a 16 yr old stepson who all his life before his horrible stepmum came into the picture watches soooo much tv and plays soooo many games, turns around and tries to restrict it, it just does not work they grow to despise you because kids today all they know and want is electronics. I have a 2yr old daughter and my thought for todays generation of parents is let us not do this to our children today and keep them active, entertain with other resources like reading, colouring or the wonderful world we have called "The Outside".

I think no more than 2 hours per day. The amount of TV children watch should be strictly monitored. Children should be encouraged to play sport, get involved in social activities and learn to play an instrument instead of being parked in front of the idiot box for most of the day. Too many parents use the TV as a babysitter which is causing a lot of childhood obesity. There is also a lot of gratuitous sex and violence on television so parents need to be very vigilant about the material their children and teenagers watch as well. I used to restrict my children's television watching to Disney cartoons, <G> rated movies and suitable (educational) documentaries. The material watched by a child must be age-appropriate.
